The Salvation Army - Free Coat Program

  • Free coat distribution through Salvation Army is limited to adults (over 18)  who  did  not receive  a  coat in 2021  and  children  under  the  age  of  5.  

  • Individuals needing a coat should  call  The Salvation Army October 3—October 31 at (309) 829-9476,  extension 289.

  • Clients will leave a message, then be contacted via telephone for an intake interview.  An appointment  for  coat  pick-up  during mid– to late November will  be scheduled during the interview.

The Giving Fence

  • Stop by the Giving Fence for coats, mittens, gloves, or hats.

  • The Giving Fence is available anytime and goes through December 18th.

  • Location: 1014-1018 W. Washington St. in Bloomington; by Retrofit Culture

Thanksgiving 2022

Mount Pisgah Baptist Church - Thanksgiving Dinner

  • Mt. Pisgah will be providing groceries for a Thanksgiving meal. Drive-through service only.

  • Date: Wed, Nov 16: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Midwest Food Bank/Home Sweet Home - Give Thanks

  • Anyone McLean County resident in need can pick up a Thanksgiving meal box and frozen turkey.

  • Service is drive-through only and will be available to the first 2,200 families.

  • Please bring a photo I.D.

  • Drive through hours: Sat, Nov 19: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.

  • Location: 2031 Warehouse Road, Normal.

We're in this Together - Free Christmas Gifts

Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington Normal - Holiday Shopping Spree

  • Available for Boys & Girls Club families and a limited number of community families.

  • Families walk through the shopping area and pick out toys, winter items, and other necessities for their children and family including a food box with all the fixings for your holiday dinner.

  • Distribution of toys will be Saturday December 17th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Bloomington-Normal Trades & Labor Assembly - Children's Christmas Party

  • The 40th annual Children’s Christmas Party for low-income families will be held Saturday, December 10th from 9 a.m. – noon

  • Location: Midwest Food Bank, 2031 Warehouse Road in Normal.

  • Gift and food distribution and special guest appearance: Santa!

  • This will be a drive-in, drive-out event and packages will be loaded in vehicles. Children are welcome but do not have to attend.

  • Registration is required and can be accessed at shorturl.at/FGUY5.  Please sign up no later than Monday, December 5th. 

The Salvation Army - Christmas Assistance

  • Assistance  sign  up is available by appointment only. Those wanting to  schedule  an  appointment  may call The Salvation Army at 309-829-9476, extension 299 from October 3—31 and leave a message requesting an intake interview. A staff member will return all calls to schedule registration appointments. for the week of November 1.

  • During the registration appointment, individuals  seeking assistance for Toys for Tots and/or the Christmas  Food  Box  must  provide a photo ID, current piece of mail for proof of address, proof of income for the last 30 days and an identifying  document  for  each  member  of  the household (DHS benefit statement, medical card, shot records, school records, etc.). A country ID or complete medical card printout is acceptable. Please note: A  state-issued  medical  card  is sufficient  for  address and income. A driver's license does not count as a form of address verification.
     

Center for Hope Outreach Programs - Joy of Giving

  • This event offers families the opportunity to participate in one of the most wonderful parts of Christmas which is giving to others.

  • Parents and guardians may pre-register their children ages 5-12 for an opportunity to visit our JOY Store during the week of December 12th-17th.  Children may still earn spending tickets by doing random acts of kindness and by volunteering in the community prior to that week.

The Village Women's Support Group & Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church - 2nd Annual Holiday Blessing Giveaway

  • Free gently used clothes, shoes, toys and household items. Items will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Date: Sat. Dec 17, 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
